After exceeding all expectations last season, Newcastle United start the 2012/13 campaign against rival top-six contenders Tottenham Hotspur.

Just four points separated the teams last season and they look closely matched again this term, with Official Betting Partner Bet Butler making Newcastle 7/4 and Spurs 9/5.

The Magpies were on fire at home last season, losing just once in their final ten home games and just three times in total in front of the Toon Army. By contrast, Spurs won just once travelling to top six teams during 2011/12.

Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba are unsurprisingly the mostly likely scorers for the Toon, but Cisse gets the nod in the first scorer market at 5/1, having opened the scoring in six of his 13 starts. We wouldn't bet against Ba scoring at some point though, and this is available at 2/1.

The Spurs danger man could be Aaron Lennon, who has scored in both his starts against Newcastle since 2010/11. He offers some value at 5/1 to be anytime scorer, as does Rafael van der Vaart at 3/1.
