Curtis Good makes his Magpies bow against Gateshead at the International Stadium in a strong Newcastle second-string

By Dan King - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Curtis Good plays his first game in a black and white shirt little more than 24 hours after completing his move from Melbourne Heart as a strong Newcastle second-string take on Gateshead tonight (kick-off 7.30pm).

The Australian 19-year-old will be partnered by former Heed loanee James Tavernier at centre-back while ex-Gateshead man, Paul Dummett, is at left-back with Michael Richardson at right-back in front of Rob Elliot in goal.

Two more new boys, Romain Amalfitano and Gael Bigirimana, also figure. Amalfitano is on the right hand side of midfield while Bigirimana will play a defensive midfield role alongside Conor Newton. Bradden Inman will play on the left hand side.

Mehdi Abeid is in the 'number ten' role - and shirt - with JJ Hooper the main striker.

Gateshead, meanwhile, include former Magpies junior Adam Bartlett in goal. Another, James Marwood, is on the bench as is Ryan McGorrigan - handed a trial by Ian Bogie following his release from Newcastle in the summer.

Newcastle United Reserves: Rob Elliot, Michael Richardson, James Tavernier, Curtis Good, Paul Dummett (c), Romain Amalfitano, Gael Bigirimana, Conor Newton, Bradden Inman, Mehdi Abeid, JJ Hooper

Substitutes: Alex Nicholson, Jak Alnwick, Michael Riley, Steven Logan, Brandon Miele, Liam Henderson, Dennis Knight, Marcus Maddison
