Newcastle face Fenerbahce in pre-season friendly action on Saturday night - the first time the sides have met in almost six years.
The fixture will be played at the Sonnenseestadion - the home ground of Austrian outfit SC Ritzing - kicking off at 7.30pm local time.
And it will spark some good memories for United fans, who will remember when the clubs went head-to-head in the UEFA Cup at St. James' Park in October 2006.
Fenerbahce were able to boast the likes of goalkeeper Rustu Recber, midfielder Alex, and forwards Mateja Kezman and Tuncay among their ranks, while they were also managed by Brazilian legend Zico.
However, on that night, a solitary goal from striker Antoine Sibierski - 11 minutes from time - was enough to get the Magpies' group stage campaign off to the perfect start.
Four of the current Newcastle squad were involved in the match. Goalkeeper Steve Harper and centre-back Steven Taylor were handed starting berths, while striker Shola Ameobi was a second-half substitute and current Magpies number one Tim Krul an unused replacement.
United's triumph in the Intertoto Cup allowed them to qualify for the competition, which they did by seeing off Latvian outfit Ventspils, and were then handed a first round tie against Levadia Tallinn, of Estonia.
That was navigated successfully over two legs, with the Magpies coming out 3-1 victors, and it was into the group stages for Glenn Roeder's men.
Newcastle topped Group H with wins over Fenerbahce, Palermo and Celta Vigo, before a goalless draw away at Eintracht Frankfurt.
A 4-1 aggregate victory over Belgium's Zulte Waregem eased them through the last 32 phase, but United's journey would come to an end in the final 16 at the hands of AZ Alkmaar.
Leading 4-2 from the first leg at home, the Magpies slipped to a 2-0 defeat in the return leg on Dutch soil, and their opponents progressed on the away goals rule.
