Ryan Taylor

Ryan Taylor insists Newcastle have to look to the future as they prepare for an exciting 2012/13 campaign.

The Magpies will compete in Europe for the first time in five years, following an outstanding season last time out which saw them secure a fifth-placed Premier League finish.

And while the versatile right-sided player - who can perform in defence or midfield - is delighted at what United accomplished last term, he knows they cannot afford to rest on their laurels and become complacent.

"It's a massive season coming up," Taylor told nufc.co.uk.

"There's a lot of lads here - and I'm one of them - who have never played in Europe before. What we did last season was a massive achievement, but we cannot dwell on that and keep patting ourselves on the back, we have to make sure we build on it.

"The lads have been looking after themselves through the summer because it could be a long, touh season ahead. We could have 12-15 more games than last season, providing it all goes well.

"So that makes it a big season and everyone is going to have a part to play."
