Former Newcastle United midfielder Danny Guthrie has signed for Barclays Premier League new boys Reading.
Guthrie, aged 25, was one of 11 players released by the Magpies at the end of the 2011/12 campaign but has quickly found a new club, putting pen to paper on a three-year deal at the Madejski Stadium.
The playmaker made 104 appearances for United over four seasons on Tyneside - scoring nine goals in the process - and played a key role in helping the Club bounce back from relegation to the Championship at the first attempt in 2009/10.
Guthrie was also an important figure last term as Newcastle clinched a fifth-placed finish and a spot in the Europa League, netting memorable strikes at Blackburn in the Carling Cup and Fulham in league action.
He told Reading's official webstite: "It feels brilliant to have everything agreed, it is a great honour and I am very excited.
"As soon as I met the manager and Nick Hammond my mind was made up, it was a no-brainer. Reading Football Club is a fantastic family club, well run and I'm so excited to be part of something special for this club."
