Romain Amalfitano

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Romain Amalfitano has today (Sunday, 1st July) officially become a Newcastle United player, completing his switch to Tyneside.

The 22-year-old versatile midfielder agreed terms with the Magpies in May on a deal, but had to wait until the expiry of his contract at Reims for the transfer to be completed. And now it has, meaning the Frenchman will be part of manager Alan Pardew's squad for the forthcoming season.

Before arriving in the North-East, Amalfitano came through the youth system at Châteauroux before moving on to Evian. He then switched to Reims in 2010, helping them achieve promotion back to Ligue 1 last season.

We have already brought you a number of exclusive interviews with Amalfitano, but to hear even more from the midfielder log on to on Monday morning.
