Yohan Cabaye believes next season will be one for fans and players alike to savour, as European football returns to Tyneside.
United last competed with the Continent's finest five years ago, but following an outstanding 2011/12 campaign in which they secured a fifth-placed Premier League finish, Cabaye and Co will be be part of the Europa League competition next term.
It will be nothing new for the midfielder, who played in that tournament - as well as the Champions League - for former side Lille, before his switch to Newcastle last summer.
And Cabaye told nufc.co.uk not only is it an exciting time to be associated with the Club, but their European adventures will be just reward for the supporters who have stood by the Magpies during thick and thin.
"Playing in Europe next season is massive for the Club and massive for the players as it shows progression," explained the fans' favourite.
"We have to play in these sort of competitions for the experience. It can only be a good thing for us as a squad.
"And the fans will love it too. I can't wait for a European night in our stadium - it will be great.
"It will be really important to play well in this competition and I'm sure we can do well."
