United starlet Sammy Ameobi was the special guest at Gateshead Civic Centre on Wednesday night, to help honour young people from across the region.
Ameobi was on hand to present more than 150 youngsters with their Duke of Edinburgh Awards, and followed in the footsteps of older brother Shola, who took on the same responsibility at last year's ceremony.
After arriving at the Civic Centre, teenage forward Ameobi was invited up to the Mayor's Parlour, where he met Mayor and Mayoress Councillor Joe Mitchinson and Jen Mitchinson, as well as the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award winners.
He then headed downstairs to be introduced to the Bronze and Silver Award winners, before being treated to a police cadet and magic display, and then making the presentations.
Ameobi said: "I was delighted to be asked to attend the presentation evening, and it was a real pleasure to see and help celebrate the achievements of these young people."
