Faroe Islands international midfielder Joan Edmundsson has left Newcastle United and signed for Norwegian Premier League side Viking Stavanger.
The 20-year-old joined the Magpies, initially on loan, from B68 Toftir in December 2009 following a successful trial and made a substitute appearance for the first-team in a pre-season friendly defeat at Norwich in the summer of 2010.
However, he failed to make a competitive appearance for United - although he won several full caps for his country during his time on Tyneside, and also played for Gateshead on loan in the Blue Square Bet Premier.
This season, he made six Barclays Premier Reserve League appearances and started both of United's Sage Northumberland FA Senior Cup ties.
Edmundsson was given international clearance to join Viking this week, ahead of the Norwegian season which starts on 25th March.
