Three of the four Newcastle players in loan action over the weekend were on the winning side for their temporary teams.
On Sunday, Fraser Forster kept his 21st clean sheet of the season as Celtic cruised into the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup with a 4-0 win at Dundee United.
Although it proved to be a routine victory for the treble-chasing Hoops, a fine early Forster save from Jonny Russell proved to be the foundation for their success.
Shortly afterwards, Robbie Neilson was sent off for the hosts and Celtic took advantage in the second half as Joe Ledley, Georgios Samaras, Anthony Stokes and Scott Brown all got on the scoresheet.
And Neil Lennon was even able to take Forster off in the final minute to give sub keeper Lucasz Zaluska a run-out against his former club.
On Saturday, Haris Vuckic appeared as a 73rd minute substitute for Cardiff at Bristol City with the score at 1-1.
And the Slovenian was lurking in the box as Joe Mason's shot deflected off Kalifa Cisse three minutes from time to give the Bluebirds victory in the Championship.
Meanwhile in League One, Alan Smith played the whole 90 minutes as MK Dons won 3-0 at home to Exeter and helped to set up the second goal, scored by Charlie MacDonald.
But James Tavernier missed out with a knee injury, while in the same division, Samuel Adjei was ruled out for Hartlepool's game at Walsall with a hamstring injury and has now returned to Tyneside.
Paul Dummett played his second Blue Square Bet Premier game for Gateshead but failed to add to his winning start in midweek, as the Heed lost 3-1 at Braintree. The Welsh under-21 international played the full game.
