Right-back Danny Simpson has set his sights on a trip to Wembley at the end of the season, but knows Brighton will pose a tricky FA Cup hurdle to overcome this weekend.
United travel to the Amex Stadium on Saturday to take on the Seagulls (5.15pm kick-off), hoping to book themselves a place in the fifth round of the famous cup competition.
And while Simpson acknowledges that Newcastle will face one of the best footballing sides outside the top flight, he is confident they have enough quality to record their fourth win of 2012.
"It's massive," the defender told nufc.co.uk about this weekend's tie.
"We all want to get to Wembley and it is a realistic target which we believe we can achieve. For the Club, for us as players, for the manager and his staff - we really believe we have a massive chance to go all the way.
"It won't be easy at Brighton and it's another game away from home, but we will be professional, go there and do a job and hopefully find ourselves in the next round.
"They are a great footballing team, it looks like a nice stadium and a nice pitch too, and it will be tough.
"But we will go there in the right frame of mind after our little break in Tenerife, and with the players we've got there's no reason why we can't be in the hat for the next round."
