Last season's Reserve team top scorer Phil Airey has joined Gatehead on a one-month loan deal.
Airey, 20, will go straight into the Heed squad for Saturday's Blue Square Bet Premier fixture at home to Lincoln City.
The Amble-born striker made his first-team debut for Newcastle as a substitute in last season's FA Cup defeat at Stevenage.
He was loaned out to Scottish Premier League side Hibernian at the beginning of the current campaign, but that was cut short by a hamstring injury and he only returned to action earlier this month.
Not only was he United's leading marksman at second-string level last term, but he also won the Barclays Premier Reserve League North golden boot after plundering 11 goals in 13 starts.
Airey also netted twice in three Sage Northumberland FA Senior Cup ties and three times in four Academy run-outs in 2010/11.
He follows team-mates Jeff Henderson and Jak Alnwick in making a temporary move across the River Tyne this season, while James Tavernier and Joan Edmundsson both spent time at the International Stadium last term.
