Goalkeeper Ole Soderberg has returned to Newcastle following the expiration of his one-month loan deal with Chesterfield.
The 21-year-old played four times for the Spireites after joining them on November, making his debut in a 2-2 draw at home to Yeovil.
He then helped them to a 4-3 win over Tranmere in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy before playing a 3-1 defeat to Torquay in the FA Cup.
His final game was a 5-2 defeat at home to Oldham, which left Chesterfield bottom of League One.
Swedish under-21 keeper Soderberg also spent a month on loan with Darlington this season, having been an unused substitute twice for the Magpies in the opening weeks of the campaign, against Fulham in the Barclays Premier League and at Scunthorpe in the Carling Cup.
He could now come into contention for Tuesday's Reserve game against Bolton Wanderers. The behind-closed-doors Barclays Premier Reserve League match kicks off at 1.30pm.
