Newcastle's youngsters dedicated their FA Youth Cup third round win over Darlington to team-mate Lee Toland and his late brother Gary.
Last week, Gary tragically died at the age of just 25 and 18-year-old left-back Toland returned to Northern Ireland to be with his family following the sad news.
But before Thursday night's cup tie at the Sports Direct Arena, the squad each wore a t-shirt with the message 'Thinking of you Lee,' as a show of support to the popular defender, who made his Reserve team debut against Ashington in the Northumberland FA Senior Cup at the end of last month.
United ran out 3-0 winners thanks to goals from Remie Streete, Marcus Maddison and Adam Campbell.
And midfielder Dennis Knight spoke for the team when he told nufc.co.uk: "The win was for Lee and Gary.
"Our thoughts go out to him and his family."
