Chelsea programme

Saturday's game with Chelsea will see the Geordie public pay their respects to former United star Gary Speed, who died tragically last weekend. And in your matchday programme, we've a number of tributes.

In a special feature, Newcastle stars Steven Taylor, Shola Ameobi and Steve Harper talk at length about their former teammate, and we also hear from ex-Toon full-back Olivier Bernard and Academy coach Dave Watson - a colleague of Speed at Everton.

In his programme notes, United boss Alan Pardew tells us how Sunday's events cast a shadow over the Club's training ground this week and how the players are determined to honour Speed's memory against Chelsea.

From the local media, BBC Look North's Katie Gornall pays her own tribute in her View from the Press Box column, and we also hear from Radio Newcastle's John Anderson on why Speed was one of football's gentlemen.

Elsewhere, we've an exclusive interview with in-form Dutch stopper Tim Krul, who admits he's as surprised as anyone by the team's outstanding start to the 2011/12 season.

We also catch up with young defender James Tavernier about his recent loan spell at Carlisle and his new temporary home, Sheffield Wednesday. Plus we put the questions to Ryan Taylor in the latest Newcastle United Lottery feature.

In our regular old boy slot, former Magpies and Blues star Gavin Peacock lifts the lid on his time with both clubs and gives a fascinating account of his life both during and after football.

And there's everything you need to know about our opponents from West London, including an interview with Spanish midfielder Oriol Romeu, plus match action from our Manchester double-header in November.

The programme will be available later on today from the Official Club Store at the stadium and The Back Page bookstore on St. Andrews Street and, of course, you can pick up a copy from our sellers outlets around the ground on matchday.

And don't worry if you can't make it to Tyneside this Saturday, or any other weekend, because programmes and subscriptions are available to buy online by clicking here.
