Sylvain Marveaux

Newcastle United can confirm that Sylvain Marveaux underwent surgery to his right hip and groin on Monday in America.

The operation, performed by Dr Marc Philippon at the Steadman Clinic, Colorado, was a success and Sylvain will be returning to Newcastle next week to continue his intensive rehabilitation program. He will be out for a period of approximately four months.

United manager Alan Pardew told the media on Thursday: "Marveaux had a successful operation in America, so we are really pleased about that, and we think that will be three-to-four months - perhaps four months. But we are very pleased with that."
