For the second successive season, Newcastle's Reserves will face Ashington in the Northumberland FA Senior Cup after the quarter-final draw was made this weekend.

Last season, United won 2-0 against the Colliers at the semi-final stage before beating Blyth 4-0 in the final at St. James' Park.

Bradden Inman and Michael Richardson were on target at Whitley Park in April, while the Magpies also beat Ashington in the final of the competition in 2008/09.

The Magpies' second-string won 2-1 at the Northern League side's Woodhorn Lane ground in pre-season back in August, with Inman and Phil Airey the scorers.

Ashington have a number of former Newcastle players in their squad, including defenders Matthew Grieve, Darren Lough and James Taylor and winger Jonny Godsmark.

The full quarter-final draw is as follows:

Blyth Spartans v Newcastle Benfield
Morpeth Town v Bedlington Terriers
Newcastle United v Ashington
Whitley Bay v Team Northumbria

All dates are to be confirmed.
