As if they need reminding that there are no easy games in the Barclays Premier League, Leon Best believes Newcastle should look no further than last season's home fixture with Wigan.
The Latics surged into a two-goal lead thanks to Charles N'Zogbia's brace 12 months ago and it took a last-minute equaliser from Fabricio Coloccini to salvage a point.
So although United are unbeaten this season while Saturday's visitors are second-bottom of the table after losing their last five league games, Best knows he and his team-mates can't afford to relax.
"Wigan nearly beat us last year when they came here, and there are no easy games," he told nufc.co.uk ahead of the weekend's match.
"They've got good players but we just need to get the three points for ourselves."
The Irish international forward has three goals so far this term and has forged a great partnership with Demba Ba in recent matches.
Ba has five goals in his last three outings alongside Best, and that means the two are likely to play together once more at the weekend despite Shola Ameobi's heroics as a substitute against Spurs last weekend.
And Best revealed he has enjoyed linking up with the Senegal international, even though he has not scored in four games.
"I'm delighted for Demba to be scoring because as a pair we're playing well and when you're not scoring, it's just as well your strike partner is," he said.
"And hopefully when Demba's not scoring, I can nick in there and score my own fair few and do it for the team."
Speaking at the launch of the new Soccer Scene store at St. James' Park, which sells top of the range boots, shinpads and other accessories, the Magpies striker admitted his own boots - the adidas F50, which are on sale at the shop - have served him well this term.
"They've been very good," he smiled.
"I think football boots have come on massively. They're doing all kinds of materials and for me, the leather ones have brought out the comfort as well as my touch.
"The boots that are available these days are unbelievable and there's a great range at the store."
