Geoff Hodgson, chairman of the North East Tourism advisory board, hands over the award to Diane Turner and Beverley Joslyn

The Sodexo Prestige team at Newcastle United Football Club achieved double success at the recent North East England Tourism Awards.

They were awarded a gold medal in the Business Tourism Award category and sales coordinator Kate Carnaby scored a silver medal in the Outstanding Customer Service Award.

The awards aim to showcase the best that tourism has to offer in the North-East region. The wide range of categories reflect the quality, performance and innovation of the tourism sector and give businesses the chance to show how they stand out from the crowd.

Frankie Angus, Sodexo Prestige General Manager at Newcastle United Football Club, said: "We were all extremely pleased with the result as a lot of hard work and research had gone into the preparation of the award entries. This is a fantastic achievement as we were up against some tough competition in both categories."

As a gold medallist, the team now qualifies to enter the National Visit England Awards for Excellence.
