Magpies youngster Lee Toland suffered European Championships heartbreak as Northern Ireland missed out on qualification for next summer's under-19 tournament in Estonia.
They lost 2-1 to Montenegro at Mourneview Park in Lurgan on Tuesday afternoon to finish third in their four-team group - behind their opponents and Group 7 winners Germany.
A waterlogged pitch meant the fixture was switched from the Oval in Belfast, but Sava Gardasevic gave the visitors a 30th minute lead.
Josh Carson equalised midway through the second half but Boris Kopitovic struck the decisive goal just five minutes later.
Derry-born Toland played the whole game, just as he did in the 3-1 win over Belarus on Saturday.
But, having lost their opening group game 5-1 to Germany last week, the left-back could not help his country through to the finals.
