Three Newcastle United players took to the catwalk last Thursday night, all in aid of charity.

Steven Taylor, Shola Ameobi and Dan Gosling strutted their stuff alongside rugby players from Newcastle Falcons at the Fashion Match event at Kingston Park.

In excess of £100,000 is hoped to be raised from the evening, with proceeds going towards Marie Curie Cancer Care, Chefs Adopt A School, Children North East, and Newcastle United Foundation.

As well as Taylor, Ameobi and Gosling modelling designer fashion, X Factor 2008 winner Alexandra Burke performed for the crowd, who were also treated to a meal by celebrity chefs including Terry Laybourne and Simon King, and an auction of amazing prizes.

Taylor told nufc.co.uk: "It was a great event and something we all really enjoyed being a part of. It's funny that you don't really get nervous playing football in front of thousands of people, but walking down a catwalk was pretty nerve-wracking!

"But the main point of the evening was raising money for charity, and there were some great auction prizes, so hopefully all the charities will have benefited."
