A trio of Newcastle United players have received international call-ups for the start of October.

Midfielder Cheik Tiote has been selected as part of the Ivory Coast squad for their African Cup of Nations qualifier against Burundi on Sunday, 9th October.

The 25-year-old has 20 caps to his name for The Elephants, who have already qualified for next year's tournament with a 100 per cent record from their five matches to date.

Young defender Paul Dummett will join up with the Wales Under 21 squad for their European Championships qualifying double header against Montenegro (8th October) and the Czech Republic (11th October). Both matches will be played at the Racecourse Ground, in Wrexham.

And Academy left-back Lee Toland is part of the Northern Ireland Under 19 party who will play in a European Championship qualifying mini tournament against Belarus, Germany and Montenegro.

The call-ups follow last week's news that Yohan Cabaye (France), Tim Krul (Holland), Davide Santon (Italy Under 21), and Ole Soderberg (Sweden Under 21) had all been selected for their respective countries.
