Phil Airey made his debut for Hibernian as a substitute in the Edinburgh outfit's 4-1 defeat to Kilmarnock.
Amble-born Airey was a 72nd minute replacement for David Wotherspoon at Rugby Park, having started on the bench as Colin Calderwood kept the same starting XI which beat Inverness in their last outing.
Wearing the number 22 shirt, the forward - who hit 11 goals in 13 Barclays Premier Reserve League starts last term - came on to play on the left-hand-side of midfield.
And he wasted no time in making an impression, forcing Killie keeper Cammy Bell into a rare save with a good effort from 20 yards.
However, there were no further goals for either team following Airey's introduction. Paul Heffernan had given the home side a third minute lead before Gary O'Connor equalised with a superb finish.
However Paul Hanlon's unfortunate own goal gave Killie a half-time lead four minutes before the break.
And in the second half, James Dayton added a second from a wonderful free-kick then Heffernan made it four on 71 minutes.
