Hitman Nile Ranger pledges to keep on scoring goals after his brace for the Reserves at Spennymoor Town
By Dan King - Newcastle United Communications Officer
Nile Ranger knows that scoring goals is the best way to force his way into Alan Pardew's plans for the season ahead, and he has vowed to do exactly that.
After scoring against Almere City in the final game of the Development Squad's tour of Holland on Tuesday, Ranger grabbed a brace - including a stunning individual goal - for the second-string at Spennymoor on Saturday.
The 20-year-old had earlier netted from the penalty spot as Newcastle ran out 4-2 winners against the Northern League champions and spoke exclusively to nufc.co.uk afterwards.
"It's always good to go out and get games," he said. "Obviously not being involved with the first-team is not the best thing, but getting games and getting fit is helpful - and hopefully going and scoring a couple of goals will do me no harm.
"Ryan Donaldson got brought down in the box for my first. I wanted to take it straight away, and I put it in the back of the net.
"And the second was definitely one of my better ones. I was out on the right, came inside, took the ball past one player, another one dived in and I faked to shoot, then another one dived in but I saw the corner and put it in there.
"Scoring goals will do me no harm at all so whether it's for the first-team or the Reserves, I'll just keep on scoring goals."
