Big Mike Williamson has arrived in Holland where he'll take part in the Development Squad's Dutch tour

Mike Williamson has joined Newcastle United's Development Squad on their tour of Holland.

He will captain Peter Beardsley and Willie Donachie's side against FC Utrecht's second-string on Saturday afternoon after arriving in Amsterdam on an early morning flight.

Williamson's partner, Jade, is heavily pregnant which meant he did not travel to the USA with the first-team squad, but although she has yet to give birth the big defender has now joined the likes of Joey Barton, Yohan Cabaye, Nile Ranger and James Perch in the Netherlands.

After missing the final games of last season with a broken wrist, Williamson played against Darlington last week and is keen to ensure he's at peak fitness when the season begins next month.

The Magpies kick off at 3pm (2pm UK time) at Utrecht's Zoudenbalch training ground, in the shadow of the Eredivisie outfit's Galgenwaard stadium.

It is the second game of three in their Dutch tour. On Thursday evening, Barton and Ryan Donaldson scored in a 2-2 draw against HVV Hollandia and United face Almere City on Tuesday afternoon in their final game.
