Five Fixtures Chosen For TV

Written by Newcastle Utd

Sky and ESPN choose to show five Magpies games in first part of the Barclays Premier League season

By Dan King

Five of Newcastle's fixtures have been chosen for live broadcast in the first half of the season.

ESPN have chosen to show United's first game of the season, against Arsenal at St. James' Park, while Sky Sports have selected the away games at QPR and Stoke and the home fixtures with Tottenham and Everton.

The Gunners game, on Saturday, August 13, will now kick off at 5.30pm and not 3pm, but the date remains unchanged with the station clearly hoping for a repeat of the excitement provided in the same fixture last season, when Alan Pardew's side came back from four goals down to draw 4-4.

The trip to QPR will now be a Monday night affair. It was due to be played on Saturday, September 10 but will instead be played on September 12 with an 8pm kick-off.

Spurs at home has been rearranged from Saturday, October 15 to the following day with a 4pm kick-off while the match at Stoke will be played on Monday, October 31 at 8pm rather than its original date of Saturday, October 29.

And the fixture against Everton on Tyneside will still provide its fireworks on Saturday, November 5 - but at 12.45pm rather than 3pm.
