Newcastle manager Alan Pardew believes their up-coming pre-season tour of America will be perfect for his squad of players

By Anthony Marshall

Alan Pardew is relishing the Club's pre-season tour to America, believing it will give Newcastle the perfect preparation for the 2011/12 campaign.

Later this month United will fly Stateside for a trio of friendies where they will take on Sporting Kansas City (July 20), Orlando City (July 23) and Columbus Crew (July 26)

And the boss insists it is the best way for his players to gear up for the forthcoming Premier League season.

"I know the facilities are top, top drawer," Pardew told nufc.co.uk. "It's good and accessible for our fans to see us.

"The training conditions are perfect, the competition will be good, and importantly we can focus completely on our job without any distractions - the food, language and climate won't take any adjusting to and we can just get on with things."

Among the playing staff heading for America could be youngsters Sammy Ameobi and Shane Ferguson, who both broke into the first team towards the end of last season.

Pardew was unafraid of blooding youth last term, with the likes of Greg McDermott and Michael Richardson also included in the matchday squads on a handful of occasions.

And the manager believes it is a big year ahead for those bright talents, admitting: "It's massive for them. They've got to make a breakthrough if not this year then the following season.

"They've positioned themselves well and the pre-season will be important for them to knock on the door, and we'll see what happens."
