By Dan King

Newcastle Reserves begin their quest to regain the Sage Northumberland FA Senior Cup on Tuesday night as they host Bedlington Terriers at Whitley Park (kick-off 7.30pm).

The Magpies' second-string won the trophy in 2008 and 2009, but were knocked out in the semi-finals by Whitley Bay, who went on to lift the trophy after beating Ashington 2-1 in the final at St. James' Park.

United have won the trophy 31 times in its 126-year history and Tuesday night's game sees both teams come in at the quarter-final stage, having been granted byes.

Ryan Taylor will play for Peter Beardsley's side as he makes his comeback from three months out with a broken ankle.

Midfielder Andy Mogwo is likely to make his Reserve team debut, while Dennis Knight, Jamie Smith and Billy Ions are also yet to play at this level. Goalkeeper Jonathan Mitchell has played once, in the 5-1 defeat at Manchester City where he performed heroically to keep the score down.

Joan Edmundsson, the Faroe Islands international, is back from a loan spell at Gateshead while defender Paul Dummett has been involved with the first-team squad in recent weeks.

The squad for Tuesday night's game, where admission on the gate is £4 for adults and £2 concessions, is: Ole Soderberg, Jonathan Mitchell, Conor Newton, Jeff Henderson, Paul Dummett, Jamie Smith, Patrick McLaughlin, Ryan Taylor, Andy Mogwo, Greg McDermott, Dennis Knight, Brad Inman, Joan Edmundsson, Billy Ions, Sammy Ameobi.
