CHRIS Hughton has been delighted with the manner in which Mike Williamson has seized his first-team chance during an assured introduction to black-and-white life.
The 26-year-old has played every minute since signing up for the Magpie promotion crusade nearly two weeks ago.
His debut, a flawless display during the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace, was enough to earn him both the match sponsors and the nufc.co.uk man-of-the-match prizes.
That was followed by another strong showing during the goalless draw at Leicester City before playing his part in Friday's 5-1 mauling of Cardiff City.

Williamson, who had endured a frustrating season with former club Portsmouth, spoke on completion of his move from the south coast of a burning desire to win a regular starting spot with his new employers.
And United boss Hughton feels his 6ft 4ins centre-back is going the right away about fulfilling that ambition.
"I'm delighted with Mike," said Chris ahead of Tuesday's meet with Derby County.
"To come and settle straight in and do as well as he has done has been very pleasing.
"When we spoke to him about coming here he was very excited at the prospect of playing competitive football again.
"It was a very good opportunity and he wants to make the most of it.
"Certainly, during his early performances he has done that and long may it continue."
