CHRIS Hughton will once again call on his Championship high flyers to regain top spot when they take on Preston North End at Deepdale on Monday night.

The Magpies were knocked off their perch at the summit of the second-tier table after title rivals West Brom recorded an emphatic 4-1 win at home to Bristol City on Saturday.

But United, a regular fixture this season in the live television slots, have become accustomed to responding to the results of others.

"This won't be the first time we've played after other teams so we're used to it," Hughton told nufc.co.uk

"And on the majority of those occasions we've come up with the right result.

"Our last Monday night game at Sheff United we had to do the same and got a great 1-0 win.

"We've got a chance now to go back top and that is our aim.

"We're on the back of three wins so confidence is soaring.

"We've used the two-week break as a freshener and the lads cannot wait for the game."
