THE Football Association have rejected Newcastle United's appeal over the red card awarded to Zurab Khizanisvili during Saturday's game with Doncaster Rovers.
As a result, Khizanishvili will now serve a three-game ban.
Whilst not disputing the validity of the referee's decision in respect of the laws of the game, Newcastle United had been of the opinion that the offence did not warrant the standard three-game suspension.
However, this appeal was dismissed and Khizanishvili will now miss the games at Sheffield United, at home to Peterborough United and away to Preston North End.
