Newcastle United opened a brand new, state of the art Learning Centre in 2009.

The Learning Centre is host to study support programme, Playing for Success (PfS).

The programme of after school education for under achieving children between the ages of 10 and 14 is a 10 week programme which aims to contribute to the achievement of Government targets for raising literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.

Newcastle United was the first sporting club to host a PFS centre back in 1998. There are now over 150 centres in most professional football, rugby and cricket clubs.

Newcastle United is currently delivering PfS to 120 pupils from schools in Newcastle.

Playing for Success is funded through the Department for Children, Schools and Families and Newcastle City Council.
