MOST of Wednesday morning's papers carry a story that also appeared in the Evening Chronicle 24 hours earlier saying the Magpies are on the trail of Cameroon international midfielder Achille Emana.
The 25-year-old is currently playing for French side Toulouse, but his fee and who else is chasing the player vary depending on which paper you read.
The Sun and Daily Star say the player will cost £6m, while the Daily Mail says Emana is on offer at £6.3m. The Star says Seville are rivalling United, while The Times says Portsmouth, West Ham and PSG are also thought to be interested.
The Sun also claim Kevin Keegan is planning a swoop for American duo Michael Bradley and Jozy Altidore.

Elsewhere, the Daily Mirror claims Wigan boss Steve Bruce is planning to make a £3.5m move for Charles N'Zogbia.
