CRAIG Moore will continue his comeback from injury in the reserves' game at Blackburn on Monday night after being told he won't be allowed to link up with Australia for a training camp in Holland.
Moore, who hasn't started a competitive first team for the Magpies since joining from Borussia Moenchengladbach in the summer, was included in Guus Hiddink's squad for a Socceroos' get-together in Eindhoven next week.
But Glenn Roeder has blocked the former Rangers centre back from traveling to the Netherlands, and told him he wants him to get a game under his belt for Tommy Craig's reserves against Blackburn at Morecambe.
Roeder said: "This is not a case of us having to let Moore go under FIFA regulations because it is not an international game but a training camp.
"Yet I can understand Guus Hiddink's situation. Since he took over as part-time manager of Australia and taken them to the World Cup finals he will not have seen Moore play for his country.
"But I have told Australia that Moore will not be allowed to play for them until he has played for Newcastle United.
"In fact if I did let Moore go out Holland this week it would be a really poor professional decision.
"What would I say to our fans and my chairman if Moore went and broke down again?"
Roeder is keen to get Moore back into the frame for selection for the first team, with Steven Taylor a long-term absentee with a shoulder problem and Titus Bramble also sidelined with a hamstring problem.
Moore originally picked up his hamstring problem in the pre-season friendly with Bray Wanderers, and then broke down on his comeback for the reserves at Birmingham City in October.
He then got 45 minutes under his belt as Newcastle's second string thrashed Ashington 8-0 in the Northumberland Senior Cup a fortnight ago, and Monday's game is seen as the next step on his road back to fitness.
"As far as I am concerned Craig Moore's Newcastle United career starts against Blackburn Rovers on Monday night to be fair to the player he accepts and understands this," added Roeder.
