MICHAEL Owen underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair the toe injury he sustained in the New Year's Eve defeat at Tottenham Hotspur.
Newcastle United's record signing went into a Manchester hospital to have the operation on the fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot.
The procedure involved having a pin inserted and Magpies boss Graeme Souness is resigned to being without the England ace for up to 10 weeks.
Owen suffered the injury in an accidental collision with Spurs goalkeeper and England colleague Paul Robinson shortly before half-time at White Hart Lane.
